Inside Sales Representative

Intertek is searching for an Inside Sales Representative to join our Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals team in our Whitehouse, New Jersey office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in sales of contract analytical services to the pharmaceutical industry!

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for working directly with the Business Development Director to service existing clients and develop new client relationships to quote and close sales of analytical services to the pharmaceutical industry. Exposure to a wide range of pharmaceutical clients through prospecting, marketing, and trade show activity. Work directly with the Analytical staff to gain industry knowledge of analytical chemistry.

What you’ll do:

  • Handles incoming sales calls related to assigned business area
  • Responsible for RUSH scheduling for related business area
  • Customer services for sales support and current accounts in assigned business area
  • Prospects new business and follows-up on leads in assigned business area
  • Closes sales in a professional manner
  • Prepares Internal Monthly Reports to Support Department Efforts
  • Prepares and delivers internal reports and client documents, and correspondences
  • Prepares proposals under direction of senior level department members
  • Maintains up-to-date awareness of company activities, industry trends & government regulations
  • Attends/staffs industry events (trade shows, conferences)
  • Tracks and maintains CRM database
  • Tracks and reports response to marketing programs
  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding sales and revenue goals
  • Marketing (including space ads, mailings, electronic campaigns)

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry and business development, demonstrated through:
    • BA/BS Chemistry, Biology or related scientific degree
    • 1-4 years of sales experience; related industry experience a plus
  • Organization, communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate technical and business information, both oral and written to others, including co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, clients, and vendors
